I fell in love with goldenrod over the summer during my residency at Lakeside Lab. Once back home I discovered, unknown to me, it was growing prolifically in the woods behind my house. Smaller than what I was used to because of the dappled sunlight. I was happy to bring it into my studio and document it and its singular beauty.
This set of ten greeting cards features botanical illustrations from my Backyard Botanicals series — original gouache paintings of the plants that quietly shape the everyday landscapes of our backyards.
Blank inside, these cards are made to be sent through the mail, tucked into a gift, or framed as miniature prints — a small piece of original botanical artwork, one of each of the botanical card designs.

The Junk Mail Migration painting series explores the direct impact of junk mail on the immediate environment – our backyards. Many of our favorite songbirds breed, live, and migrate to/from the Boreal Forest, only passing through Iowa seasonally. When their breeding habitat is destroyed, the population dwindles and the chance of viewing the likes of a Yellow bellied Flycatcher in our backyard diminishes.
